Beach Info
Awana stream flows into Awana Bay at the north end of the beach, passed the DOC campground. The stream is home to pāteke and a pied shag colony. While Awana Beach is a popular ocean surf beach, swimming in Awana Stream is not advised due to the consistently poor water quality. Within the campground you will find a kitchen shelter, picnic tables, and basic DOC long-drop toilets for convenience.
