Beach Info
Church Bay is a sheltered beach in the Tutukaka Harbour popular for fishing, swimming and kayaking. There is a small car park from which small boats can be launched but be cautious when navigating a boat around Philip Island across from Church Bay as the stretch between the bay and the small island gets very shallow at low tide. Tidal currents and changes in water depth are common hazards. The severity of these hazards changes with the rise and fall of the tide, so beachgoers need to be aware of this. Beach users should also be aware of deep water, diving into shallow water, and submerged objects. There is no Lifeguard Service, so all water users should exercise caution when entering the water for any activity.
