Beach Info
Houhora Heads is situated at the harbour entrance, Houhora is suitable for swimming and kayaking. There is a holiday park nearby and parking for day visitors. You can launch boats from the beach, with many popular fishing spots in the harbour and at nearby beaches such as 90 mile beach. It is a sheltered beach located near the entrance of the Houhora Harbour. Tidal currents and changes in water depth are common hazards, especially near the edge of the tidal channel. The severity of these hazards changes with the rise and fall of the tide, so beachgoers need to be aware of this. Beach users should also be aware of deep water, diving into shallow water, and submerged objects. There is no Lifeguard Service, so all water users should exercise caution when entering the water for any activity.
