Beach Info
Karaka Bay is a quiet little beach located at the mouth of the Tamaki River.
The beach is narrow, composed of sand and shells, and backed by a grass reserve along much of its length.
If you head in for a swim, make sure you keep children within arm's reach, and stay within your limits. For those interested in New Zealand history, look out for the fountain near the beach access track that commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi at Karaka Bay on 4 March 1840.
Car parking is very limited and access to the beach is via a steep access path.
