Beach Info
A picturesque beach with sweeping views of Waiheke Island, Kawakawa Bay is set in the foothills of the Hunua Ranges. A small settlement is located across the road from the beach. Kawakawa Bay is tidal, so swimming may be easier at higher tides.
Kawakawa bay is a popular spot for collecting cockles at low tide. It is a shallow long sandy beach that gives way to a muddy bottom 100m offshore. It is divided by a small headland in the middle of the beach creating the impression of two beaches. A very busy boat ramp is located at the eastern end of the beach so be aware of boat activity in the area.
