Beach Info
Medlands Beach (Oruawharo Bay) is a stunning, accessible white-sand beach on Great Barrier Island, known for its surf, clear waters and natural beauty. It is a magical stretch of coastline. Popular with surfers, the northern end of the bay tends to offer calmer conditions for swimmers. The beach is not lifeguarded so care is required as this ocean facing beach can experience large waves and strong currents. Parking is available near the Medlands Doc Campground, where you will also find long-drop toilets, an outdoor shower, and a simple wash-up kitchen facility.
