Beach Info
Milford Beach is a great spot for a wide range of activities, particularly a swim on a warm summer day. There is also a large grassy, tree-lined field next to the beach that is a hotspot for picnics - next to the sandy beach volleyball court.
However, this beach is not patrolled by surf lifeguards, so you need to stay within your limits and keep young children within arm's reach.
If you're not a competent swimmer, swim between the red and yellow flags at Takapuna Beach or Mairangi Bay: they're just down the road and are patrolled by surf lifeguards.
If you're planning on taking paddle or sail craft out, make sure you check the conditions first, especially the wind as it may be stronger than it first seems.
Ensure you wear a correctly fitted lifejacket and take all of the right gear.
