Beach Info
Located on the Tutukaka Coast, Ngunguru Estuary at Papaka Road is a popular spot for swimming and kayaking. This site is a short distance from the shops in Ngunguru. It is popular for swimming, fishing kayacking and exploring. Opposite the motorcamp in the Ngunguru Estuary is a sheltered beach which is generally safe for swimming. Tidal currents and changes in water depth are the common hazards, especially near the edge of the tidal channel. The severity of these hazards changes with the rise and fall of the tide, so beachgoers need to be aware of this. Beach users should also be aware of deep water, diving into shallow water and submerged objects. There is no Lifeguard Service, so all water users should exercise caution when entering the water for any activity.
