Beach Info
Okahu bay is a very popular inner city spot for swimming and water activities. It is a 500m long sand and shell beach with deep water for swimming and small craft. It is bordered by rock walls at each end and gently slopes for 20m at high tide until the water is over head height. Shallow water at low tide exposes the muddy bottom 100m offshore. Take care as there are Oyster shells scattered along beach.
Views to the Waitemata harbor , Devonport and Rangitoto island makes Okahu Bay a nice spot for picnicking or a refreshing swim. Large reserves with plenty of good facilities and grassed area are located just across the road. Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium are an easy walk from Okahu Bay.
