Okiritoto Stream

This site is located at the northern end of Coast Road at Muriwai Beach. This site can be accessed by a short walk through the sand dunes and tussock from the large car park at the end of the road.

The small stream has a typically shallow, sandy floor base and a slow flow rate. The stream has two steep banks which can be unstable.

Caution advised: The water is deceptively shallow and murky which does not enable swimmers to identify the depth. The stream also has several deeper holes and submerged objects which have been washed down during times of high flow. Please also be aware that vehicles may be present.
