Oneroa

Oneroa is the most accessible beach on Waiheke. It is a short walk from the township to this 1.5km long white sand beach, enclosed by headlands at each end. It is protected from wind and large swell by the coromandel peninsula. This makes it a safe spot for all water activities. There is plenty of beach at high tide for relaxing and playing. Small gentle surf and minimal tidal activity make it a good spot for picnics under the large trees. BBQ's and tables are available along the beach Shallow and gently sloping out to 20m offshore make it easy for swimming and playing in the surf. It can be subjected to bigger swells when wind is from the northwest. There is a small car park at eastern end but parking is plentiful at the roadside along the beach.
