Beach Info
Onetangi Beach is Waiheke’s longest beach, stretching 2 km with soft, white sand and a gentle slope. The calm, rolling waves create a picturesque setting along its entire length. Even at high tide, around 5 meters of beach remains accessible.
While exposed to the open sea, Onetangi is sheltered from strong winds and swells by Great Barrier Island and the Coromandel. However, northerly winds can create some wind chop. The beach is a popular anchoring and swimming spot, so be mindful of boat movements. Local eateries add to its charm, making it a favorite destination.
If you’re launching a boat, please use the designated access points at either end of the beach—via Le Roy Road or First Avenue—to protect the delicate coastal dunes and plant life.
