Beach Info
Point Chev beach is a very popular inner-city swimming spot. It is a1.5km long sand and shell beach with deep water for swimming and a small craft. It is bordered by rock walls at each end and gently slopes for 20m at high tide until the water is over head height. Shallow water at low tide exposes the muddy bottom 100m offshore. Take care as there are oyster shells scattered along the beach. Views to the upper harbour and Te Atatu make it a nice spot for the evening sun. Large reserves with plenty of good facilities and grassed areas make it a popular playground for all local suburbs.
