Beach Info
Sandspit is a great little sandy beach on the edge of the Waiuku River. Head down for a picnic on the grass, or stay overnight at Sandspit Motor Camp Waiuku. Due to the large tidal range, swimming is best at high tide. There can be currents associated with the incoming and outgoing tides; the water depth below the jetty also changes with the tide. Always keep within arm's reach of young children, swim with a friend, and never swim after consuming alcohol.
