Beach Info
Stanmore Bay is a popular location for a swim over summer, as well as yachting and boating. it is a popular beach, however it is around 2.5km long so a quiet spot can usually be found. There is a popular playground and sports fields at the southern end of Stanmore Bay. If you head out for a swim, steer clear of either end as there are submerged rocks and currents. A number of floating pontoons have been installed; only head out if you're a competent swimmer, as they are further from shore than they may first appear. If taking paddle or sail craft out, make sure you check the conditions first, especially the wind as it may be stronger than it first seems, and ensure you take all of the right gear.
