Beach Info
Takapuna Beach is a beloved destination, offering a variety of activities, with swimming being a favorite on warm summer days. The grassy bank behind the beach provides the perfect setting for a relaxing picnic, complete with stunning views of Rangitoto Island. For safety, always keep young children within arm’s reach and swim between the red and yellow flags. Just a short stroll away, Takapuna’s lively selection of cafés, restaurants, and shops ensures there’s plenty to explore after a day by the water.
At low tide, remnants of an ancient coastal forest can be seen between Takapuna Beach and Thorne Bay.
If you're planning on taking paddle or sail craft out, make sure you check the conditions first, especially the wind as it may be stronger than it first seems. Also, ensure you wear and take all of the right gear.
