Beach Info
Mount Maunganui is undoubtedly one of New Zealand's most popular beach locations during the summer period. The user's numbers swell during summer with crowds reaching five thousand plus. Swimming is the most popular activity, with surfing coming a close second when swell is present. Swimmers are advised to use the patrolled area, and be mindful of other beach users as collisions with bodyboarders and surfers are common. Lifeguards patrol the beach in front of Tay Street during the school holidays.
