Beach Info
Te Atatu beach is a very popular inner-city swimming spot. It is a 100m long sand and shell beach with very shallow water. Located in the harbour view reserve off harbour view road it has a concrete boat ramp and a large grass area. There are limited facilities with picnic tables and a toilet. Te Atatu Beach is tidal, so swimming is best at high tide. The beach gently slopes for 20m at high tide and sand gives way to mud at 20m from shore. Shallow water at low tide exposes the muddy bottom. Take care as there are Oyster shells scattered along the beach. Views of the upper harbour and city make it a nice spot for watching an early morning sunrise.
