Beach Info
Wenderholm Beach and Regional Park is a fantastic spot for a day out, but it can get very busy during peak season. Enjoy lush grassed areas shaded by Pōhutukawa trees. Camping and two houses is available.
Wenderholm Beach can be hazardous to those using the water. There are sudden changes in water depth and strong currents around the Puhoi River Mouth and along the beach; currents become particularly strong during outgoing tides. The beach is only patrolled when the red and yellow flags are displayed, so swim between the flags and stay within your limits. If you're planning on heading out on a boat, paddle craft, or sail craft, make sure you check the conditions first, especially the wind as it may be strong and offshore. Wear a correctly fitted lifejacket, and take all of the right gear.
